Scripture Union Daily Guide 28 September 2025 Outline

Job was under immense pressure to abandon his convictions and accept those of his friends. But instead of throwing in the towel, as many would have done, just to belong, notice Job’s resolve (Job 27:2-6). Peer pressure is real and not just among young people. We all face pressure from our peers, in social, professional, economic, and spiritual circles, to compromise our standards and be like others. Some good brothers have joined unbelievers in stealing from government coffers because they want to put their children in the same schools with their colleagues’ children, ride their kind of cars, etc.

Job’s example should challenge us to remain unwavering in our commitment to integrity, honesty, and righteousness, even in the face of adversity (Daniel 1:8). Job maintained his conviction because he had faith that God would judge the wicked by and by (Job 27:7-10). In Job 27:13-23, Job highlighted the fate and destiny of the godless. The consequences of rejecting God are tragic! Avoid the path of the godless by all means (Psalms 1:1). What else can we learn from Job in Job 27:11-12 (Psalms 73:17)?

Insight
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Be still, my soul! for God is near!
1. Be still, my soul! for God is near!
The great High Priest is with thee now;
The Lord of life Himself is near,
Before whose face the angels bow.

2. To make thy heart His lowly throne
Thy Savior God in love draws nigh;
He gives Himself unto His own,
For whom He once came down to die.

3. He pleads before the mercy-seat;
He pleads with God, He pleads for thee;
He gives thee bread from Heav’n to eat,
His flesh and blood in mystery.

4. I come, O Lord! for Thou dost call—
To blend my pleading prayer with Thine;
To Thee I give myself—my all,
And feed on Thee and make Thee mine.

Closing Prayer
Dear Lord, I ask for fresh grace to remain faithful to You and to the truth, even when life is tough and rough.
